Hello. My name is Miranda.
I have a husband, 3 children, 2 dogs, a cat, and until very recently, a bird. We live in Saskatchewan, land of living skies and the breadbasket of Canada.
I cloth-diapered all 3 of my babies, and I own a small online business selling cloth diapers.
I love reading and collecting books. I aspire to write a novel some day. I blame my lack of progress on having 3 young children; I sincerely hope that I don’t discover in a few years that it has nothing to do with them, but rather that I am simply not a good writer. My favourite (human) fictional character is Anne Shirley.
“Dear old world’, she murmured, ‘you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.”
Anne of Green Gable, Chapter 38: The Bend in the Road
Why in the world am I starting a blog?!?
Excellent question. Until a few days ago I had never considered writing a blog, and if I ever had thought about it, that thought would have only been that I could never do that.
I don’t usually make new year’s resolutions. Generally the start of the new school year or the beginning of summer is when I resolve to start something new. I really couldn’t give a reason why, at the beginning of this year, I decided to start a blog.
The reasons not to have a blog are numerous. I don’t like sharing personal information with people I don’t know well. I don’t like the idea of posting pictures or sharing personal information about my children online. I find it a chore to post on Facebook or Instagram. I don’t have any profound insights or sage advice to share.
So why should you read this blog?
I don’t know. Maybe you shouldn’t – but I hope you do. I don’t feel like I have a lot to offer, but the one thing I do have is optimism. I love to daydream and always have grand ideas for the future. I am optimistic about the future, but I am also content in the present. I am not counting on all my dreams coming true to make me happy. I know that happiness and joy are not the same thing. It’s a work in progress, but I choose being joyful over feeling happy. I would be honoured if you would join me on this journey.
